What to Expect

History - Let's chat

We start by having a chat with you. We take the time to understand why you have come to see us. During this time we may ask specific question to assess the underlying cause of your condition and determine what the best treatment options may be. Most importantly, we are assessing whether chiropractic treatment will be safe for you.

what-to-expect

Examination - Assessment

We use a series of physical tests to help us to understand and determine the most likely cause of your condition. This will change for each person depending on what the issue is. These can include assessing how well you can move, your reflexes & muscle strength. We will assess the area(s) in question using our hands. Sometimes more information is required such as X-rays. If that is the case we will let you know your options. None of these tests are considered invasive.

Report of findings & treatment options

We will have a chat with you about what we think the most likely cause is for your condition &  your options for treatment. We explain what to expect treatment to be like & the expected outcome. We can give you an idea of the expected timeframe & other treatment options that may benefit you. This allows you to make a decision on how you would like to treat your condition.

Treatment

Treatment can usually be provided on your first visit. By this stage your Chiropractor will have discussed treatment options with you so you will understand what this means. Types of treatment include joint manipulation/adjustment/mobilisation, assisted stretching, soft tissue massage, trigger point therapy, anatomical acupuncture/ dry needling and joint distraction. Most techniques are performed using our hands but we do use a few instruments to assist us too. We will show you & talk to you about them so you can let us know if you are happy to go ahead.

Subsequent visit - Follow up

Most often there will be a follow up consult. At this visit we can assess how effective treatment has been and will have an idea of how your body is responding. Together we come up with a treatment plan based on this information and estimate how frequent treatments will be required. We discuss your options with you to make sure you are comfortable & happy with your treatment plan. We are also able to provide you with at-home options & recommend additional therapies that may help improve your condition.
